Sainik Schools in India

Sainik Schools in India have been in existence since 1961. They are a joint venture of the Central and State Governments, under the overall governance of Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence. They are established with the primary aim of preparing boys academically physically and mentally fit for entry into the National Defence Academy. At present, there are 33 Sainik Schools located in various parts of the country. Girl cadets have introduce to Sainik School, from the academic session 2021-22.

Government of India, in order to develop ethos of national spirit, indomitable courage, unfailing commitment to values of respect for the country, imbibe the importance of physical fitness and embody the national pride in the students, has approved an initiative for setting up of 100 new Sainik Schools under Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence in partnership with NGOs/Private Schools and State Govt.

The Govt. of India, Ministry of Defense through a process of evaluation and in furtherance to meeting qualifying requirements framed for the purpose, approved PPP Sainik Schools and further allowed them to signed Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Sainik Schools Society. These schools have been entrusted to focus on value based education enabling children in developing pride in the country's rich culture and heritage while imparting education.

Banas Sainik School

Banas Sainik School (BSS), Palanpur, Dist. Banaskantha, Gujarat is one among the 100 newly established PPP model Sainik Schools under the aegis of Sainik School Society, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi. Banas Sainik School was established under the flagship of Banas Dairy, Asia's Largest Dairy Cooperative with 1 Crore litre milk collection per day. The Banas Sainik School is managed by Galbabhai Nanjibhai Patel Charitable Trust, promoted by Banas Dairy.
